and Mercy Suluma.

Thank you Bishop Hanna, Father Roel & Father Peter-Paul for celebrating mass with the Confirmation candidates. We pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide the children in their journey.

Spirit of God, grant me:

The gift of wisdom

To see the world through your eyes,

The gift of counsel

To make difficult decisions,

The gifts of knowledge and understanding

To use my mind to know you and to love you,

The gift of fortitude

To have the courage to live in the faith

Despite the difficulties and disappointments,

The gift of piety

To be able to express my special love

And commitment to you,

And the right kind of awesome fear

That makes me pause to wonder and revere God’s Love.

Amen.

Pentecost

Sunday the church celebrated the Feast of Pentecost and many refer to this day being the birthday of the church. Pentecost marks the final day of the Easter season and the end of May as well as the start of June signals the return to Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time does not mean unimportant or boring time but rather time that is counted in order of weeks.

In the church's year, there are two parts to Ordinary Time. The first weeks occur between the end of the Christmas season and the beginning of Lent. Now we come to the second part of Ordinary Time which this year begins with the Eighth week. Ordinary Time will continue until the Thirty-Fourth week, then Advent will begin.
