School Uniform Review

From Sarah Nightingale, Principal
North Melbourne Primary School Council is taking the opportunity to review our current School Uniform Policy. It is good practice for schools to review their dress code to ensure the policy enables a dress code that is fully workable and reflective of the values of the school community.
As you would be aware, NMPS has a non-compulsory school uniform. However, as the landscape of NMPS is changing at the beginning of 2023, with the opening of our second campus, the School Council agreed it was timely to consult with our school community regarding our school uniform policy. This survey is being circulated to all students, parents, caregivers, and staff to obtain an indication from our school community as to the suitability of our current uniform policy. We understand that many have differing opinions on the matter of a school uniform.
Research shows that there are those who believe a uniform enhances belonging, equality and community spirit whilst others believe that a uniform can limit a student’s freedom of expression, and autonomy. Therefore, your voice in this matter is of great importance to us and we are seeking your help to complete a short survey to indicate if you are happy with the current uniform policy (non-compulsory school uniform) or if you would like to see some changes.
Please complete this survey which should take 2-3 minutes.
Thank you for your time.
