In the Art / Craft Room

Art

Term four we were introduced to a new artist, Kaylene Whiskey. Kaylene is an indigenous artist that uses cultural images and contemporary pop images to create her artworks. The kids have loved learning about her life and influences.

The students in prep and grade one/two are exploring their favourite superheroes and drawing life size portraits as themselves in their superhero costumes.

The three to six classes are using their computers to do independent research exploring the works of Kaylene Whiskey and her comic drawing style.

Craft

It has been a very busy term four with students making great progress to complete their craft projects.

Prep and class one students are working on completing their pom poms. We are thinking of making pom pom characters from them.

Class two and three are working through their knitting project using the garter stitch to complete their knitted teddy bear.

Class four/five are knitting a soft toy that also incorporates pain and pearl knitting to challenge the more advanced knitters.

Class five/six are competing  fair isle knitting projects of their choice.

All students in class two to six will be working on their knitting projects in term four, so we will need lots of adults to assist with supporting students to learn knitting. If you are able to help please come along and support the craft program. You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.
