Year 2 students had a wonderful day at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne onFriday 2 December. Here are some reflections on their day:

"Mum, make me nice food. I really don't want to miss the ULTIMATE PLACE Botanical Gardens!" I say, while chewing my scrumptious, delicious food. "You're so forgetful, aren't you?"
Once me and my class finally got to the Botanical Gardens, we started off with a lot of walking and a nice and beautiful greeting to our Instructor, Claire. She was going to be our educational instructor. The first ordinary but awesome place we were going to was the Children's Garden. "Claire, are we going to stay at the Children's Garden the whole time?" I asked while eating my brain food. "No, we are going to the other special places that have really cool things!" answered Claire. "Alright!"
After we ate, my group went to a different part of the so far, so nice, Children's Garden where the garden rangers needed to put delicious veggies. I really wish we could have some!
Then we went on to a nice nature walk! We went to a little gate and made lavender fabric! "Put the lavender in, then put a few leaves!" said Claire. Everyone, well mostly, LOVED their fabric!

"Excursion day to the Botanical Gardens has come" I said to my family. It was very hot on Friday 2nd December.
Firstly we went to the mini garden where all the beautiful flowers were and all the busy bees were taking pollen from the incredible flowers.
Secondly we planted a little bean seed. First we took a pot, then we scooped up some black soil, and then we made a hole in the dirty soil and put the small bean seed in the small hole, and then covered it up with dirty soil. Then we washed our hands with bubbly, soapy water and flicked off the water onto the grass.
Next we went on a walk and it was very hot. We went in a scary forest and we saw a small fossil tree and it was 10,000 years old! Then we went up the tall treehouse and it was so far to jump down to the ground. It was very exciting. Next we saw a possum in a tall tree sleeping in it's nest. It sleeps in the sunny daylight and stays awake in the dark night.
After that we ate lunch which was so delicious and we had so much fun playing as well.
When I went to the Botanical Gardens it made me forget everything!

"Get up! You have to eat your breakfast or you will be late for the excursion to the wonderful Royal Botanical Gardens!" yelled Mum. "I didn't know that today was 2nd of December" I said.
When the Grade 2s (including me) got to the Royal Botanical Gardens, we ate our snack and brain food, and then we met our Botanical Garden's teacher, named Claire. She had a Bean Lesson with us and we even got to plant our own awesome bean! After that we asked "Claire, what are we going to do now?" "We are going to do a Nature Walk!" said Claire. We saw an old tree, but it wasn't just an old tree, it was a super old TREE FOSSIL! After that we even saw an adorable possum in a nest. So cute! We had our own yummy lunch.
