Term 2 Sport Update

Our Term 2 sporting fixtures are nearing completion, with just two rounds remaining.  It has been a tough season for outdoor fixtures, with many rounds at the mercy of waterlogged fields.  We have over a quarter of the college participating in fixtures this term, which has been an amazing turnout.

Volleyball

Our Years 7 and 8 volleyballers have seen a lot of games and I have observed some great teamwork and motivation to be the best they can be.  Our Year 7 teams have been very successful and another win this week could see them in the grand finals.  Our Year 8 teams were unfortunate to drop a game for camp, but most of the teams are sitting in positions to play for a minor premiership.

Netball

We have eleven teams competing in Intermediate and Senior netball this term.  We have a real battle in the Year 9 competition, where both our teams are tied first equal on the top of the table.  They play off for the first time this week and the winner will progress into the grand final.  The losing team may well make the grand final also depending on the Loreto goal difference.  We have another two teams who, based on this week’s games, could earn a spot in the finals next week.

Hockey

Our Junior and Senior teams have unfortunately not gained a lot of momentum yet.  Subjected to weeks of cancellations, they will only complete five out of eight rounds. Premierships will be decided on table positions rather than grand finals.  We welcome back some of our most talented players this week and know we will be strong this week in both teams.

Touch Football

Like Hockey our Touch teams have not had a lot of game time.  We have managed four rounds of play, although our Year 7A team had only three due to further field closures.  Despite this, we have two of the four teams poised to strike.  Depending on this week’s result, we should see a Year 7 and Year 8 Premiership final berth.
