It’s State of Origin week and Queensland has struck back in the first game of the series.  Can the Maroons wrap up the series in Perth, or are we going to have to dig deep and believe we can win the decider?

It’s a lot like our Wednesday sport.  While we hope to win every week, sometimes the game has other outcomes.  We ask our coaches to inspire resilience in our teams - losing a game is but a minor setback in the big picture, and the lessons learnt in defeat reach across more than sport.   However, the most important of all is the existence of belief.  Queensland will always remain strong because of belief.  Like the State of Origin team, we know we have the ability, but maybe not always the execution.

Many of our teams are sitting in a position of belief at the moment, almost at the top of the results ladder, but having suffered a loss last week; maybe relying on teammates and themselves to lift each other up, build on the belief, and cement the team’s position in the final.

The question remains: Can we do it this week and, if not, will we still believe we have the potential if we lose?

Whatever happens Wednesday night, stay strong, promote the good in the game, and know all our team will come back stronger.

Go chase that dream, sports people.
