New Deputy Principal Announcement
From the Principal
Following the resignation of our much loved and esteemed Annette Butterworth from the position of Deputy Principal Student Development and Wellbeing, the College has undertaken a rigorous recruitment process to find a successor.
Impressively, the College received dozens of high-quality applications from exceptional educators across Queensland and internationally. Following a rigorous shortlisting process, the interview and selection panel comprised of 2 rounds of interviews, including a panel of external educator leaders who assisted in this important appointment for our College.
Ultimately, the Panel’s decision was a unanimous one and we are delighted to announce Ms Kathryn Dendy as the incoming Deputy Principal – Student Development and Wellbeing commencing in Week 6 of Term 3. Kathryn is currently the Dean of Students (P-12) at Saint Stephen’s College Coomera, where she has been a member of the executive leadership team since 2012. Kathryn holds a Masters in Student Welfare from The University of Melbourne - Graduating with Honours. Prior to her appointment at Saint Stephen’s, Kathryn was Head of McAuley House at Aquinas College and Head of Year 8 at Catholic College Wodonga. Kathryn has been responsible for the development and implementation of the vertical Tutor Group system at Saint Stephen’s College and has led and developed whole school approaches to wellbeing (including staff wellbeing) and in leading a high functioning P-12 pastoral team. Kathryn is a passionate advocate for the wellbeing of young people and is committed to their development as life-long learners in a high support high challenge context.
She is also an experienced educator, with extensive teaching expertise in English, Film, Television and New Media; Study of Religion; and Religion and Ethics. Kathryn is also no stranger to Mount Alvernia College and will be known to some members of our broader community as a graduate of Mt A! She is thrilled to be reconnecting with her roots here on the hill and is energised by the exciting new chapter we are all embarking upon. We look forward to welcoming Kathryn mid-term 3.
In the meantime, we continue to savour our remaining time with Ms B prior to her very well-earned Long Service Leave and our formal acknowledgements and votes of thanks.
Peace and all good,
Samantha Jensen
