Message from the Principal

St Anthony’s Parish and St Anthony’s School hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as central and fundamental responsibilities of the Church.

St Anthony’s is fully compliant with all policies in relation to Child Safety. These documents ensure compliance with the Victorian Government Child Safety Standards which took effect on 1 January 2017 and reflect our Parish's ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children are safe, happy and empowered.

Hello Families and Friends of St Anthony's,

Welcome Back

Welcome to Term Three! It is hard to believe that we are already past the halfway point of the year.

COVID-19 and Rapid Antigen Tests

The Victorian Government is providing further deliveries of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) in Term 3 and again in Term 4 to schools. These will continue to be distributed to families for regular use and in particular for use for students who are symptomatic or who are household contacts.

If your child is unwell it is important that they stay home and test for COVID-19. Health and safety is everyone's job and I thank all of our amazing St Anthony's community for working together and playing their part to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.

St Anthony's Administration Building Refurbishment

On Wednesday 13th July we held our first site meeting for the administration building refurbishment. Matt and Shane from Baxter Building Company came for one last check of the old office space and to complete the final preparation before work commences. On Wednesday 20th July you will notice fencing going up around the old office and some site offices being installed. I will continue update you via the newsletter and to use Class Dojo to post notifications.

Our school office is now located in our school library.  Access for families is from the side door in the staff carpark, we have signs to lead the way.

Vaccination Bus at St Anthony's

Next Wednesday 20th July, between 2pm and 7pm the Vaccination Bus will be visiting St Anthony's Hall. As COVID-19 cases rise again due to winter and with the fact that government and health authorities are recommending fourth doses, it is a great opportunity to have your next COVID-19 vaccination.

No booking is need. Simply come to the St Anthony's Hall and the friendly staff from Monash Health will assist you.

Student Safety - A focus on Digtal and Online Safety

Discord App

Discord is an online communication platform that was originally created for the gaming community to chat together while playing. Users of the app must be 13+ although it is still extremely popular amongst St Anthony's students. The app has evolved to include many other community groups and has a diverse range of users with a diverse range of interests, such as, high school students, adults and gamers of all age.  Users join a server, where they can chat via voice, video, or text. Discord is targeted toward teens and adults, and as the chat groups are unmoderated, meaning the content often contains profanities or unsuitable topics for children. Users can also join public servers, enabling them to engage with strangers online. For this reason, cyber experts have given Discord a higher age rating than suggested, and strongly recommend an adequate level of parental supervision.
