National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week

From the 27th of May to the 3rd of June FPS celebrated National Reconciliation Week. So, what is Reconciliation Week?

Reconciliation Week is a week dedicated to breaking down barriers between Indigenous Australians and the rest of the country. This leads to a better society for all of us.

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, ‘Be Brave. Make Change’ is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and governments—to Be Brave so we can Make Change.

As a school we participated in an incursion run by Sam, a proud Wurundjeri and Dja Dja Wurrung woman, who taught us many things about Wurundjeri culture and their traditional language, Woiwurrung. For instance, we learnt how to sing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

We all really enjoyed the whole experience and we can’t wait for next year!
