Year 3's excursion

On Friday 17 June the Year 3’s walked to Coles at Central Square. We have being learning about money so we went to the shops to spend some money. Each group had $20.00 and a list of items to buy. All the items we bought are being donated to St Vincent de Paul’s. We thank all the parents and grandparents who came to help. We learnt a lot and had fun as well.

QoP Gardening Club

Thank you to Bunnings in Altona for supporting our Gardening Club.  They donated seedlings and mulch for our kitchen garden. The Gardening Club meets every Wednesday to prune, water and plant with Ms Craig.

Mr Carlisle works with students on Friday. They have been hard at work attaching frames to protect the beds from birds and insects.

Music Around the World!

This term in music, students have been exploring some traditional cultural music from places around the world. We have had fun learning to play instruments, dancing to traditional songs and re-telling cultural stories from places such as Mexico, Africa, Australia and Hawaii. Our year Preps have been very busy learning how to play many of the percussion instruments we have in our music room, as well as exploring body percussion!
In the photos below you will see the Year Ones playing clapsticks to some traditional indigenous songs with indigenous instruments. The Year Two's had fun dressing up and playing  percussion instruments to 'La Cucaracha'. Some also learnt how to strum a ukelele.

Dan Philip - National Karate Championships

Mr Craig had received word that Dan Philip S in 6A will be competing in the National Karate Championships.  Karate Queensland is hosting the 2022 Australian Karate Federation Competition this year.  Dan will be heading off to Rockhampton Queensland this August 5- 7. We wish Dan all the best and look forward to hearing how it went!  Good Luck Dan from everyone at Queen of Peace!
