The Iceberg Emotion
Sometimes your child's behaviour is an indication that something more is lurking below the surface.
Although anger is displayed, other emotions may be hidden. Feelings of sadness, embarrassment or fear might cause your child to feel vulnerable and they may not have the language or skills to manage these feelings effectively.
1. Understand what is triggering the anger outburst.
2. Identify what is going on underneath the tip of the iceberg.
3. Find ways to make your child feel calmer.
4. Channel your child's energy on something they would rather focus on.
