Term 3 Regional Exchange 

Our Term 3 Regional students had such a wonderful time.

Thank you to the JMSS homestay families - we could not run this program without you.

Thank you also to all the staff and student who made them feel so welcomed.  They were a really lovely group of students, who were really thrilled to spend time at JMSS and Monash University. 

Australian Team announcement

Congratulations to our Year 11 student – Sean Roe. Recently Sean was successful in being selected into the Australian Earth Science Olympiad Team after a lengthy selection process. Here are some great photos from the Victorian ceremony. Congratulations Sean on all your hard work – It is an incredible honour! We look forward to seeing where this takes you!

 Pandemonium

Congratulations to Himalaya Joshi his new short science film  'Pandemonium',   has been released and selected in the SCINEMA International Science Film Festival. Based in Canberra, SCINEMA is the largest science film festival in the southern hemisphere and has numerous annual international entries with a total of 15-20 selections per year. It is highly prestigious and a selection is a great privilege.

Pandemonium is a short investigative film focused on the issue of pharmaceutical pollution and its connection to the pandemic.. It can be found herehttps://youtu.be/upk1Hvx504I  

John Monash Science School students win top honours

John Monash Science School students Jonathan Purcell, Alexandra Keany, Parnian Nejatbakhsh and Silin Makdsi received top honours this week for their outstanding VCE results in 2021.

 

Jonathan Purcell received a Premier’s VCE Award for being a Top All-Round VCE High Achiever, which is given to students who achieved outstanding results in five or more of their subjects. Alexandra Keany received a Premier’s VCE Award for excellence in Biology, Parnian Nejatbakhsh and Silin Makdsi both received  awards for English (EAL). This puts them among the top VCE students in the state in 2021.

 

John Monash Science School principal Peter Corkill said the entire school community was proud of their Premier’s VCE Award recipients.

 

298 of Victoria’s brightest students were recognised by this year’s Premier’s VCE Awards.

Congratulations to Krystal De Napoli - Her book Astronomy: Sky Country has been shortlisted for The Age Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award! 

Krystal is one of our ESV teachers in Indigenous Science. A wonderful colleague with an incredible wealth of knowledge. Her book is a must read!!!
