Kings Park – Advance Program
As part of the Year 10 Advance Program, students from the Kings Park Campus were involved in a range of learning experiences throughout the semester, with a focus being community, teamwork and communication. Excursions included visits to The Big Issue and Salvation Army in the Melbourne CBD, where the class learned about homelessness through a guided city tour and participating in a workshops.
Students used their teamwork and communication skills to develop a group community project or fundraiser events in support of a range of organisations of their choice. Some of these included Cab-Café, an Out of Uniform and Sausage Sizzle Day and even a Burger Stand. Feedback from both staff and students were that these events were great in building up school pride and culture. The class was also able to get donations from local stores as they looked to make some modifications and beatifications of their school campus.
We hope the students have gained a better understanding of what community means, issues that our community is faced and how a young person can get involved to support their own community. We hope that the students take with them, and continue building on their skills as well.

Tutoring
Two of our students involved in the tutoring programme. Very busy using manipulatives to demonstrate their knowledge of arrays.
Their enthusiasm and hard work great to see.
