REFILLING OUR CUP

Put your hand up if you are looking forward to the holidays. I am imagining lots of hands extending enthusiastically upwards. I know that when the holidays come, it means different things to each family.

Some are able to travel. Others need to be creative as to how they amuse the children. Wet weather can make a difference to the activities. Some enjoy sleeping in, late night movies and popcorn, days in PJs.

Whatever your family holiday time looks like, make sure you find some ways to unwind. As the following quotes suggest, when we do things that make us happy, we can let go of the stress; when we relax we are renewed and refreshed; mindful breathing can help slow us down; also, we need time to remind ourselves what is most important for us.

As the minions quote states, our glass, or cup, or bucket are refillable. We don’t have to run on empty. Try making a list of things that renew you, that make your soul happy, that make your heart smile. Suggest that everyone in the family makes a list, and try to slot in at least one thing from each person’s list. It is important to remember that those things don’t have to cost a fortune. The best things in life are free, like experiences that we share with each other.

Quote for the week:  “Fill your cup because you can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Reminder: Next term we will be the start of our emergency meal roster for families who need an extra help with a meal for their family. If you would appreciate receiving a meal at any stage next term, please email me through Compass.
