Foundation

Term 3 has been a very busy time for the Foundation students.

We have been busy learning to write Narratives, looking at all the elements that we need to include like characters, a setting, problem and conclusion.  We have been working hard to be as creative as we can.  In Maths we have been learning to understand subtraction. We have been practising to take away with concrete materials like counting teddies and blocks, as well as learning to use the cross out method and number lines.

During Reading this term, we completed learning the letters of the alphabet and the common sounds that they make, by celebrating meeting all of Milo Monkey’s friends for his surprise party.  We had a scavenger hunt to find all of his friends around the playground.  It was certainly a highlight of the term.

Another highlight was celebrating 100 days of school for our Foundation students.  We were surprised with many old men and women arriving at school on a Tuesday morning. We completed lots of different learning tasks and finished with a picnic and dance party. We are so proud of our students and all of the learning that they have achieved so far.

Last week we completed our swimming program.  Many students had not  participated in lessons before, so it was great to see them jumping in and having a go.  Students loved riding the bus each day and all gave their very best during their lesson times.  It was wonderful to see all the students improve and achieve their goals over the week.

Finally this term, we participated in book week.  It was amazing to see all of the wonderful costumes and we thank the parents for helping create such a wonderful experience for the students.
