3/4 V

Welcome back to term 3! We hope that you all enjoyed the holidays. Welcome Miss. Sarah to the 3/4 team who will be teaching on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, alongside Miss. Vanessa who will be teaching on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Firstly, a big congratulations goes to Sam, Piper, Lexi, Olive and Harper for completing a full chart of hero awards. They earned themselves a token towards our whole school chart.  Well done and keep up the great work!

Maths

Our Maths topics for term 3 are as follows:

- Number: Multiplication and Division

- Measurement - Length, Area and Perimeter

- Number: Fractions

- Statistics and probability - Chance (probability)

Students are given both pre and post assessments before and at the end of each unit to track their progress. Unit order and length of the unit are flexible and can change depending on student progress and interruptions to our learning. In week 7 this term we will be hosting a special Maths Open morning. Please keep an eye on the newsletter and the Skoolbag app for more details about this day!

Maths Activities this fortnight have involved finding arrays in the world around us and linking them to multiplication.

Inquiry

This term in inquiry the students will be learning about social justice issues experienced by people with disabilities.  The unit topic is called Someone Else's Shoes. Being in someone else's shoes, allows us to imagine how we would feel and how we might act if we were them.

We will be learning about the role that rules and laws play in our community as well as students sharing their own ideas about existing laws. We will investigate what it's like to live with a disability as well as the organisations and aids that support people with disabilities.

Students will be immersed into the impact that disabilities have on people so that we treat everyone with respect and kindness and provide assistance to those who need it.

Circus Skills

On Friday we had Hayden from Little Devils Circus come and visit us to teach us some new circus skills. Hayden will be coming to teach us new skills every Friday this term in preparation for our big performance at George Jenkins Theatre on the last Thursday of term. We had so much fun learning new tricks!

Some skills we learnt were juggling with scarves, twirling with ribbons and manipulating twirling sticks. We all had great fun!

NAIDOC Week

Last week we celebrated NAIDOC week.  The students were involved in activities learning about Indigenous Culture.  Grade 6 Leaders conducted a whole school reflection and we read a book called Hello, Hello and the students created artworks reflecting on the story.
