A Message from the Principal

This week is set to be a big one, commencing with a lovely Year 2 Mass yesterday, celebrating with our Parish family. Today we welcomed the students from Heatherdale kindergarten into our Prep Rooms. They joined the preps with their reading and writing activities, played on the playground, visited the chickens and even had a lesson in the STEM room, making bubbles. Tomorrow another group from Heatherdale will also join us and on Thursday we welcome the students from Emmikins Kindergarten.

Today we also had the staff from St Luke's Wantirna visit all of our classrooms. They have heard about the success of our Visible Learning program and the implementation across the school of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for each lesson. They were impressed with how our students could talk about their learning, the organisation of our classrooms and structure of the lessons. On Thursday we will welcome the staff from St Scholasticas in Burwood East.

Our Prep to Year 2 students commenced their swimming lessons today. Excitement filled the air all morning and continued as they ventured onto the bus and all the way to the pool. All students were assessed today on their skills and grouped accordingly. It was great that I could go along and see how smoothly the program ran. It was lovely to be joined by many of parents at the pool also.

We are excitied about the Trivia Night on Saturday night and I am looking forward to celebrating with you all at this very special event. I would also like to thank the Community Association and Year 3/4 parents, for the incredible work they are putting in behind the scenes to prepare for this massive event. Don't forget to organise your tickets.

Our school closure day last Friday was very successful as we completed most of the documentation required for our School Review in October. It was rewarding to see the achievements over the past 4 years and the new programs, policies and procedures that have been put in place, having such a strong impact on our student learning outcomes.

The next school closure day will be on Wednesday 24 August.

Her work is displayed outside our Art Room. She won a prize and certificate for her submission. We are very proud of you Frances.
