MCC Chess Club Welcomes St Mary's

Week 7 of this school term saw McCarthy Catholic College Chess Club play St Mary’s from Gunnedah. These games were both for Round 3 of the NSW Country Secondary Schools Knockout Chess Competition 2022, North West Region as well as social games to help develop the player skills.

Congratulations to St Mary’s who narrowly won the round. Compared to last year, the McCarthy players showed great improvement against a very skilled opponent. It was extremely pleasing to see how well the players went, showing great depth of talent within the McCarthy Chess Club. With more games and practice, the McCarthy Chess Club should become highly successful in the regional competitions.

For the next game, the school will be hosting Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School during the last week, which will involve both the representative and social players.

The Chess Club meets every Friday, second break in the library. All players, especially beginners are welcome.

Well done to all players.
