RUGBY PRESENTATION EVENING

It was great to see the pride and enjoyment on the boys faces last night for the Rugby Presentation Evening.  Thankyou to Mr Virgona for his organisation and to all the coaches for their efforts throughout the season. Thanks also to Mr Couani for his support.

FOOTBALL (SOCCER) AND AFL PRESENTATION EVENING

Please note the Football (Soccer) and AFL presentation evening will commence at 5.30pm in the Sarto centre next Wednesday. It should conclude at 6.50pm so that any parents who need to go to the senior Football (Soccer) presentation night can get to the Gym for the 7pm start. If you are going to both events you might want to pack some food.

WALKATHON

If your son has not brought back his sponsorship form can he please do so tomorrow.

BOOKWEEK PARADE AND AUTHOR VISIT

The Bookweek Parade will be held this Friday morning in Period 1.  Parents are most welcome to attend as this doesn’t happen when your son goes into Senior School.  We also have a visit that day from an author, Tristan Bancks, which should be very informative.

ST PIUS X FEAST DAY AND IPSHA ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Please note that next Monday is the St Pius X Feast Day Holiday, with the exception of the Athletics Team who will be going to the IPSHA Carnival with Mr Virgona and myself.  Best wishes to all the athletes.

WINTER SPORTS PHOTOS

The Winter sports photos will be taken next Wednesday 31st August for AFL, Football, Rugby (in playing kit) and Cross-Country/Athletics (school uniform). Please ensure your son brings his winter sports uniform to school in his bag.  Boys who do not have a photo in school uniform may wear their school tracksuit and/or rain jacket to school with their jersey, shorts and socks underneath (don’t forget boots).

FATHER, GRANDFATHER & SON SPORTING AFTERNOON

On Thursday 1st September we have the Father, Grandfather & Son sporting afternoon at Oxford Falls.  If you haven’t completed the form/reply slip could you please do so.  The form and information can be found below.

Junior School Sport

Thursday Sport: on at Oxford Falls. Our regular sport is put on hold as the Walkathon takes over for a week. I thank all students and the wider SPX community for their support of this worthwhile charitable event – the generous spirit of our community always shines through, whilst the boys do a superb job in exerting themselves physically for a good cause.

Father and Son Sports Day: On Thursday 1st September we will hold our annual Father and Son Sports Day at Oxford Falls. We look forward to welcoming dads, grand-dads and male relations to this fantastic wider school community event. Arrival is 11.30am for 11.45am start time. A BBQ lunch will follow at 1.15pm. Students require normal PE clothes and will be active irrespective of their father’s participation.

For planning and catering purposes, please return reply slips (emailed last week and also in the document below) indicating your intention to attend and in what capacity. Thanks in advance to the mums who have volunteered to assist with feeding such a large, ravenous horde.

Athletics: Our athletes continued their good form at the Brothers’ and Barker Carnivals last week. We wish the team the best of luck in the IPSHA Selection Event next Monday.

Cricket: Training resumes on the 8th Sept. Players can bring their own gear (the school does provide most items as training kit if required). A pre-season training /coaching clinic will take place on Sunday 28th August at Oxford Falls from 8 – 9.30am. Qualified coaches from Cricket Appeal will be in attendance to oversee the conduct of the sessions. Players are encouraged to take part in this coaching “to kick start” their season. Rugby Presentation Evening: Congratulations to all players who were acknowledged last night after the completion of another Rugby season. We especially recognise the major award winners in each team, including our Jnr Rugby Player of the Year, Bailey Perkins, who was absent representing CIS at the NSW Schools State Championships.

Football/AFL Presentation Evening: takes place for all players on Wednesday 31st August from 5.30pm – 6.50pm (allowing parents to attend the Snr Presentation in the Gym from 7pm). It will be held in the Sarto Centre and boys will be required to wear school uniform. All players will be acknowledged on stage for their season’s efforts and major award winners will be presented.

Cricket takes the new ball!

With the new season just about to begin, SPX Cricket has had a great response to its call for players this year. Thank you to everyone who registered. This coming Sunday - August 28 - is the official start of SPX CC's season with our Skills and Development Day at Oxford Falls for all registered players. Spots for the junior school teams'  session - between 8.15am and 9.30am (register at 8am) - are filling up fast so if you haven't booked to come along you can do so at  https://www.trybooking.com/222326   But hurry, bookings for this FREE session which includes a BBQ and a drink must close by the end of this week so that we can make sure we have enough external coaches and food available.

For more information about the forthcoming season please contact Mr Danny John, SPX CC Secretary on secretary@stpiuscricket.org.au   mobile 0438 791068.
