Well Being

We have been reading 'The Dot' by Peter H. Reynolds. It's a story about the great things you can do when you have a go, do your best and believe in yourself. In the story, Vashti makes lots of great artworks from a single dot, even though at the start she thought she couldn't draw. We thought about what it feels like when you have a go, and then we had a go at making our own art using a single dot. Have a look at our beautiful work. 

Religious Education

We have been learning about Lent to get ready for Easter. We have made Lenten promises to do acts of kindness for our friends and families, so we can be more like Jesus. Here are our Lenten promises.

Literacy

During Term One, we have enjoyed reading a number of interesting texts, including ‘Clark the shark’ by Bruce Hale. The children completed their study of the text with a piece of artwork and a summary of what their particular shark liked to do. Some said that he enjoyed swimming and others, eating cake!!

Digital Technologies

We have been exploring how to program a Beebot.  A Beebot is a small programmable robotic device.

Programming the Beebot to follow a path fits well with our current Maths unit on Mapping. Mapping is about learning to follow and give directions. We all had a go at creating a path for the Beebot to follow. Then we worked out the instructions needed to program the robot to travel the path we designed. We discovered that to make sure the Beebot goes where we want it to, we need to  imagine we are looking at the path through the Beebot's eyes. Sometimes it took a few goes to get our instructions right. It was fun to watch the Beebots follow the paths we designed.

Buddies

This term we have been getting to know our buddy classes!

We read a book called "The World Needs Who You Were Made To Be." We learnt that we are all special and unique. We made hot air balloons and learnt about what we have in common with our buddy and what makes us unique.
