Year 5 /6 News

As part of our Inquiry learning this term , the senior students are looking at our Learning Dispositions and the Learning Pit, to help understand what is required to be an effective learner; being resilient, curious, creative, self-managing, responsible and respectful are some ways that we can become better learners.

The students have been involved in a number of team building activities that illustrate these Learning Dispositions. These activities will continue throughout the term.

Physical Education

On Wednesday March 3rd, students in Foundation, 2/3, 3/4 and 5/6 began tennis lessons during Sport, with coach Peter Hubble from Buckley Park Tennis Club.  For many students, this was their first time learning or playing tennis, and they were given the opportunity to practice important tennis shots, those being forehands and backhands.  Students also learnt how to drop and hit the ball to a target.  Over the course of the next three weeks, it will be exciting to see both students who have and haven't played develop their tennis skills, in hopes of being able to have a rally by the end of tennis lessons.  The skills that students acquire playing tennis such as hand eye coordination, balance and various ways of moving to a ball, will also help them when playing other sports too in the future.
