Year 11 Geography Excursion to Kosciuszko National Park

The Year 11 Geography cohort have been studying the topic Biophysical Interactions which involves investigating the nature and functioning of the four spheres. On Tuesday 2 March, we were fortunate enough to visit Kosciuszko National Park for our case study.

The day involved the boys completing some fieldwork and observing changes to the biophysical environment. We observed changes in the montane, sub-alpine and alpine zone of the mountain, followed by a stop at Charlotte Pass where students had a magnificent view of Mount Kosciuszko. The final stages of the trip involved a stop at Perisher Ski Resort and Dainers Gap where students learnt about past and present human impacts, and current management strategies in place to protect and conserve the values of the park. The excursion helped consolidate their understanding of the four spheres operating in the Kosciuszko Alpine Area.
