Co-curricular - Junior Sport

This weekend sees the summer season draw to a conclusion for Term 1. It only seems like yesterday that we were trialling and placing the boys into their teams. Good luck to all the teams looking to keep their undefeated streak alive and to all our teams playing this weekend. Regardless of how your season has fared this term, let’s go out onto the field, court or diamond and finish on a great team effort. Let’s take this final opportunity for the summer to let our lights shine.

Congratulations Crichton on winning the Cross Country Carnival for 2021. There were many outstanding efforts and much fun had on the day. With the Cross Country Carnival behind us, there is still an opportunity for boys and their families to raise money. The online donations will cease to be available on Wednesday 31 March, the last day of term. All funds need to be finalised by this date and a reminder that boys are not able to bring cash to school. All funds must be raised online. Boys will then be able to order their prizes over the term break. Please be aware that boys may choose only one prize and prizes must be finalised in their profiles by Friday 23 April.

Winter sport trials will be held on Friday 26 March (Week 9). All trials will occur during school hours and boys are asked to be prepared for the individual sports i.e., boys trialling for Rugby and AFL will require to have their mouth guards for trials, with head gear optional. Those boys trialling for Football will need their shin pads for the day. Any boy wishing to trial specifically as a goalkeeper will need to supply their own gloves. Boys will not require boots for trials.

The procedure for winter sport trials is as follows:

  • 12’s Football and Rugby will be held from 9.00am – 11.00am
  • 11’s Football and Rugby from 11.20am – 12.20pm
  • 10’s Football, Rugby and Prep AFL will trial from 2.10pm – 3.10pm.

Boys will wear their College uniform to school and change into their PE uniform (colour House shirt) for the trials. All trials will be run on the College premises.

Training times and date will be confirmed later in the term. However, as a guide, the vast majority of Junior School winter teams (if not all) will train on Monday afternoon finishing at 4.45pm. All teams will complete a second training on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. This session is dependent on coach availability and will conclude at 3.55pm. We aim  to start training from the first day back in Term 2 (Monday 19 April), with round one commencing on Saturday 24 April.
