Magis report

The Griffiths University Intergerational program for Year 7 Magis option students continued with a wonderful morning tea at Mercy Village in Wembley last Monday.  The face-to-face interviews and 'show and tell' sessions were exceptionally successful. Congratulations to all students and warmest thanks to MercyCare for the splendid hospitality.  Both classes have just one more remote interview session prior to working on finalising the biographies of each resident involved in the program.

The Magis House Challenge program continued this week with Mental Mathematics,  and again records were broken with Year 11 and 12 fielding a total of 105 students. St Louis is the current leader, whilst Loyola Year 12 and Campion Year 11 have had the largest individual teams. Full results next week once the Year 7 and 8 section is completed.

Interschool Debating commenced this week, with nine of our 10 teams competing at Christchurch on Tuesday evening (Year 11s have a bye). All debaters must wear summer uniform, bring pens and palm cards, and be present 15 minutes prior to the start. Warmest thanks to coaches and managers Ms Dawson, Mrs Lumley, Mrs Glass, Alumni Rory Hewson, Charlie Richards, Ben Linsten and Alex Panther and Year 12 Eve Cullity who form an impressive panel assisting our debaters.

This coming week sees the final preparation sessions for the Da Vinci Decathlon which takes place on Monday 29 March for Years 9 and 10, and Tuesday 30 March for Years 7 and 8. All parents should now have received information and permission forms for this major event on the Magis calendar.
