Home Reading

A warm welcome back to the new school year!

Your role as an advocate for your children’s reading success cannot be overestimated. It can have a massive impact on their attitude towards reading. It is the joy of regularly sharing a book with someone who cares that sets the foundation for their reading success and ensures that reading is given the priority it deserves.

In the next couple of weeks, your son or daughter will start bringing home reading material from school. They will be provided with a blue reading bag to carry their books to and from school and a reading diary to record the books they have read. It is expected that reading bags will be brought back to school each day so that classroom teachers can keep track of books read and children can change books when needed.

We encourage you to support the school and teachers through participating in the in-home reading procedures by reading any correspondence from the classroom teacher, communicating any necessary information to the teacher in the diary and signing the diary each time your child reads at home.

Thank you for your support,
