Principal's News

This week's shut down wasn't the start to the year that we all wanted. After last year we didn't want the children to miss any day of being at school. Although we didn't want any sort of lockdown we did need to be prepared in case something like this week's lockdown happened.
Three days wasn't long enough to warrant preparing devices to be sent home as it would have taken most of those days to get these organised. If the lockdown had been extended we would have prepared devices and they would have gone home on Monday.
The teachers had pre-prepared folders for every child ‘ just in case’. When we heard that we were to shut down for three days we were ready very quickly and sent home the packs with the children. One of the things that the teachers did during the lockdown was to prepare materials for the children in case we have another short lockdown. They will be stored in class sets and be ready to go should we have a similar lockdown in the future.
Other than the lockdown the school year has started off very smoothly. The children have all settled in very well. The teachers have been doing the start of year assessment with their students to see where they are at with their learning and to guide their teaching and learning.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child whether that is with their learning or how they are settling into 2021 please don't hesitate to contact the school or communicate with your child's teacher on Seesaw. Normally the classrooms are open every day at 8:30 am and the teachers would be there if you wish to talk to them and of course after school. At the moment we are not able to do that with the Covid restrictions but if you contact the school we will arrange for you to meet with the teacher and that could be on a google meet, phone call or at the front office.
