Please remind children to return their library books each week so they can borrow a new one.

WE ASK THAT ALL CHILDREN  PLEASE HAVE A LIBRARY BAG TO KEEP OUR BOOKS SAFE.

The library will be open Thursday at lunch for games and reading. 

Children are also welcome to come any Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings to change books.

Kindergarten children are the best class at returning their library books. Well done Kindies!

Lexiles

Our students in Stages 2 and 3 use Lexiles to help them choose suitable books for their reading level. In our library, we have many books that are lexiled to help children select appropriate books. The children initially start with a computer generated comprehension test which will determine their Lexile level and then help teachers and themselves to select books at a level that will challenge them - not so difficult as to be frustrating, but difficult enough to encourage reading growth. Then in the library, we try and match children to suitable books at their level. Quizzes are available for a lot of books and the children should be receiving at least 7 out of 10 for them to be successful. The result is then that we have motivated and successful readers. Lexile measures are based on over 30 years of research and are the most widely adopted measure of reading ability and text difficulty.
