Dear Sacred Heart Community

Father Jan Farewell Mass

Our parish will officially farewell Father Jan at the 10.30 am Mass on Sunday 30th May. Father Jan has been a great supporter of our school and to me in my role during the past three years. Again on behalf of our school community, I wish him every happiness and fulfilment in the next part of his vocational journey.

Sacred Heart Good Samaritan Award

Last Friday, we were able to come together as a whole school for our first assembly since pre COVID. Our whole school assemblies are an important occasion when we come together to celebrate all the great things that are happening in our busy school. In 2019, we introduced a very important award to acknowledge those students whose actions go far and above the norm to make others in our school community feel safe, welcome and to help them when they are in need. This award is titled the "Sacred Heart Good Samaritan Award", and pays homage to the Good Samaritan order of sisters who started Sacred Heart School.

Congratulations to the winners acknowledged at our last assembly.

Katalina (Year One), Brenton (Year One), Enock (Year Four), Amelia (Year Four who received two awards) and Chen (Year Four)

Congratulations Jaxon and Jasmine

Last Sunday evening at the parish 6.00pm Mass, out two students Jasmine (Year Two) and Jaxon (Year Four), along with their cousin and former student Isaac, helped Father Eloysius celebrate Mass by performing altar serving duties. Congratulations Jasmine and Jaxon. You made the celebration an even more special occasion.

Kinder Visits

Kinder visits recommenced this week with members of our school choir visiting the Gower Street Kindergarten. Over the coming weeks, members of our choir will have the opportunity to visit some of the other kindergartens that we have a relationship with.

Congratulations Joel

Our Year Six student Joel is becoming a regular in the newsletter for his sporting achievements. Joel's latest achievement and his most prestigious, is this week being chosen in the Victorian team for his age group, to compete in the National titles in Brisbane later this term. Congratulations Joel, this is a great achievement and just reward for all the hours you spend practicing on the tennis court.

Coffee Van

The coffee van visited our school this morning for the second time, and will continue to do so on a Thursday morning for parents and guardians to grab a hot beverage and have a chat. Word is getting round our community, that the coffees offered are the "perfect way" to start the day with over twenty parents, guardians and preschoolers grabbing a hot drink this morning.

Year Three Sacrament of Reconciliation

The following seven students from Year Three, are in the final stages of preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation next Thursday 27th May. On behalf of the school community, we pray for these students as they prepare for the next stage of their faith journey.
