Learning Collaboratively and Celebrating Success

How great is it to be back at school? We have enjoyed seeing everyone’s smiling faces and coming back together after yet another lockdown.

Gold Rush

This term has been a lot of fun learning about all things gold including the Gold Rush and Eureka Stockade. Within the classroom we have gone back in time to the 1850’s and have played the Gold Game where the students have taken on a character, made journal entries, mined for gold and are fined for various things representing life on the gold fields. Students have also been busy working in Gold Expert Groups where they have researched and wrote about an aspect of life on the goldfields. These included; entertainment, food, education, women, health and law and order. The students continued to work in these groups over remote learning and since coming back have come together to present their information to the class. To finish off our unit, students will be learning about the Eureka Stockade and recreating the timeline of events over this time. From our experience at Sovereign Hill then our dress up day at school to everything that we have learnt, the students have contributed and engaged really well in this unit and we look forward to finishing it off next week.
