The Fathering Project in Schools – Oakleigh Primary School and Kindergarten Dads Group

Oakleigh Primary School and Kindergarten joins The Fathering Project

What is The Fathering Project?

The Fathering Project aims to improve child development outcomes by inspiring and equipping fathers and father figures to effectively engage with their children. The Fathering Project delivers resources, programs and events specific to the engagement style and needs of dads and father-figures.

Dads Group

Following discussions about the impact of remote learning and COVID, the School Council recognised the importance of increasing the opportunities we provide for community engagement at school and kinder.  Subsequently they decided to create an Oakleigh Primary School and Kindergarten Dads group, where fathers and father-figures feel welcome to gather, share, learn and bond with each other and with their children. Oakleigh Primary School & Kindergarten Dads Group

Dads Groups provide opportunities to form friendships with other members of the school and kinder community, a valuable support system and resources to help fathers engage with each other and their children. The key role of the Dads Group is to plan and host activities within the school community.

The Dads Group will host four activities per year, two for dads only, and two with their children. These activities are an opportunity for dads to bond with their children and connect with other fathers or father figures.
