three year old program

Term two is well under way and children have been really enjoying our lovely Autumn weather.

Green and Red groups have been:

-Talking about mothers and special family members who fulfil that role, reading stories and making gifts.

-Engaging in lots of activities to promote fine motor control such as using tongues to pick up pom poms, using pegs to peg up tiny clothes on the washing line, using pipettes to create water colour art work, doing lots and lots of puzzles!

-Exploring colour, size, shape and number

-Exploring magnetic force

-Learning about Dinosaurs

-Building houses and other structures with big blocks outside

-Using cardboard and other recycled materials to create masterpieces

-Balancing, climbing, sliding running outside to promote those important gross motor skills

-Enjoying the new tricycles that we purchased last term.

In both groups children really love to sing and dance which is wonderful to see,  we  incorporate opportunities for music and movement into our daily practice, this gets children moving, supports their oral language development, their coordination and physical wellbeing and promotes our sense of belonging to the group.

We are very excited about the State Government's commitment to provide funded three year old kindergarten from next year as well as their funding of kinder fees in 2020 and 2021. The positive impacts on children's learning of two years of play based sessional kindergarten are supported by research and by our experience here at Oakleigh Primary School and Kindergarten.
