2021 ICAS Exams - Reminder

A reminder that children in Years 2-6, are invited to take part in the 2021 ICAS testing program. ICAS is a series of competition assessments, set at a challenging level, which focuses on higher order thinking and problem solving skills. Students who sit ICAS are asked to demonstrate a deeper, integrated, and thorough level of learning. Due to its intensive and difficult nature, ICAS is not an accurate measure of grade performance. Some students and parents feel disappointed and discouraged by their results in these challenging tests and ,therefore, it is not recommended for all students. Please consider if this optional assessment is appropriate for your child, before enrolling them in any of the upcoming assessments.

ICAS assessments are now online - This allows greater accessibility for students and faster delivery of results.

Library News

All Library books need to be returned by Thursday 24 June 2021. Students can return books at any time via the library chute; before class in the morning, during recess and lunchtime and at the end of day before home time. Students do not have to wait until their designated library time to return books.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge closes Friday 20 August 2021. It’s not too late! Please encourage your children to enter the challenge and read as many books as possible. Reading stimulates the mind, expands vocabulary, boosts a child’s memory retention and improves writing skills. Read, read, read! If students have misplaced their logon details, our librarian can help and reissue user/password details.

The number of books to be read by the students to complete the Challenge:

  • Kindergarten, Year 1 & Year 2 - 30 books (K-2 students can read the books on their own, read them with someone or someone can read the books to them.)
  • Year 3 & Year 4 - 20 books
  • Year 5 & Year 6 - 20 books

Years 3-4 and 5-6 students must read the books on their own but someone can help these students to choose the books.
