Uniform expectations

The new 2019 Uniform

The Northcote High uniform was designed by students, teachers and families based on these principles:

  • Our uniform shows that we are part of an organisation - Northcote High School - and helps to ensure student safety by quickly identifying students on site as members of our organisation
  • Wearing it communicates a notion of belonging and pride in the school
  • Wearing it creates an identity for the school in the community
  • Our uniform supports equity by ensuring that students are not distinguished by their capacity to purchase 'name brand' or expensive clothing

Our School Council, which is representative of the entire community, has also developed and endorsed our Uniform Policy, which is communicated to families and students.

Students are expected to wear the correct uniform, in the manner intended, to and from school and during school hours.

The process for being out of uniform has recently been restated to students and families and the process has been communicated on the Compass Newsfeed.

We appreciate staff, students’ and parents’ ongoing efforts to ensure all students meet our high expectations regarding uniform.
