Our 14yr Boys relay Team come in 5th at the State Swimming Finals

Australian Track & Field Championship

NHS had two athletes competing for the Big V at the Australian Track & Field Championships in Sydney over the term break. Niamh Tabet started the week on a strong note coming 4th in the U15 women’s 1500m and then just a day later with a 5th place finish in the U15 Women’s 3000m. Doug Buckeridge then closed the week on a high note for NHS as he managed to get the Gold medal in the U17 Men’s 3000m.

National Championships - Hockey

Also competing at National Level over the Easter Break was Rylie Wilcox (Yr 9). Ryley played hockey for Victoria over the holidays at the U15 Girls National Championships and they won gold.  It was a huge win for the team, winning all 7 of their games, only conceding one goal for the championships and winning both their semi final & grand final matches after nail-biting penalty shoot-outs.

Thank you to Duncan and Paula for sending us through the reports and pics. We love to hear about our students competing outside of school. Well done to these outstanding athletes and their supporting families.

State Swimming

Congratulations to Matteo Rossi Hunt, Oskar Deininger, Luke Mensingh, Jack Schipper and Tiger Whittle who all competed at the State Swimming Finals on Wed 24th April.  To get to this level is an amazing achievement, it includes a lot of hard work and many early morning training sessions in the pool.

Matteo competed in the 15 Mens backstroke coming in 7th with a time of 33.20.   Oskar came 6th in the 12-13 Mens Butterfly with a time of 34.01, and our 14yr Boys relay Team of Oskar, Luke, Jack and Tiger came in 5th with a time of 2:05.13.  Well done boys, you did yourselves, your families and NHS proud. We would like to thank the parents and grandparents who transported the boys to and from MSAC and joined in barracking in the stands.  A big thank you to John, Oskars dad for taking better pics than I could.
