Celebrating all things great at the Grove.
Our school terms just seem to be rushing by! The weather has gotten cooler again already. We only have another 4 weeks left before another term is over. Our school keeps growing, this term we have welcomed several new families from many interesting places to be part of the Glenore Grove community.
The last few weeks we have had many events at the school & it was wonderful to be part of them. Under 8's morning was a great event with many families coming along & students engaged in activities. Part of this we also engaged in Simultaneous Story time & listened to the book Space, read by Dr Shannon Walker at the international space station.
Road safety week was a great success - we have over 150 bikes & scooters at school for this event. Thanks to all those families that supported getting equipment at school.
Finally, we celebrated Volunteers week & acknowledged all those that volunteer their time & skills to support the school and our students. From our P&C & staff to parents that help out in so many ways.
A reminder for our Prep Families: Between May and July this year, our school will be taking part in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC). This is a nationwide census/survey of early childhood development held once every three years. The AEDC is an Australian Government initiative run by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and includes all children in their first year of full-time school. The AEDC provides vital information to communities about how children are developing in the crucial early years. AEDC data is relied upon by schools, early childhood organisations, researchers and government to inform planning and improve services and supports for children and families. The AEDC Instrument is completed by teachers about children in their first year of full-time school. The AEDC is voluntary and is not a school test. The information collected gives a picture of how children are developing before they start school in five key areas or domains. It shows what is being done well, and what can be improved. This is why it is important for all children in their first year of full-time school to be included in the AEDC. Please read the attached letter that outlines the type of data collected and the processes for the collection, storage and security of this data. If you consent to the collection of your child's information, you do not need to do anything.
If you do not consent to the collection of your child's information, please email Sarah Donaldson - sdona86@eq.edu.au
The are the events happening at the school this month.
Reconciliation Week - Students will engaged in activities to celebrate and build on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. The week-long celebration is an ideal opportunity for all Australians to explore ways to join the national reconciliation effort.
Athletics Carnival is happening on Thursday 17th June. All parents are invited to join us for this event this year. All students will be involved in the morning, with the junior school finishing after lunch. P&C will be catering for the event & I encourage you to support fundraising efforts.
STEM day happens the last Wednesday of the term. This term it will have an escape room format again, but students will engage with Fairytales to build a growth mindset.
Our Prep Prep program commences next term. This year we will hold sessions on Wednesdays. Children will be working in a Prep classroom for some of the session in preparation for starting in 2022. Children born 01/07/2016 -30/06/2017 are eligible to enrol for Prep next year.
