LIBRARY NEWS

Welcome Back to the Library!

Welcome to Term 4. It’s hard to believe the end of the year is fast approaching but there’s still lots to do before we get there. This week we’re building towards celebrating Book Week which is usually celebrated in Term 3 and Book Fair that kicks off at the end of Week 3.

This year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild MInds’ which has got us all thinking about the interesting characters and creatures found in many great stories. To kick us off, we’re been reading the new Pig the Pug book, ‘Pig the Slob’ by Aaron Blabey. Like many of us, the Covid kilos have caught up with Pig and he’s in danger of falling through the floor. Can his ever-faithful sidekick, Trevor, save the day?

In Stage 2 and 3 we’re going to create our own CBCA Books of the Year website (using Google Sites) and I look forward to sharing them with you soon.

Book Week Competition 1

Can you guess the name of the books where the characters in the new library display come from?

Book Week Events

Next Wednesday, students across the school will be sharing their favourite books with friends in their Stage levels and spending some time to read with one another in the playground. We will also have some special things to share with you that the staff and students have made about their favourite books.

New Book Sequels Coming

Lately, there has been a large number of sequels to very successful book franchises released and many of them are already in the library and others are on their way. I have no doubt they will be very popular so get your reservation requests in quick. Some of these include Hollowpox buy Jessica Townsend, Pig the Slob by Aaron Blabey and Tiny Timmy: Playing Up by Tim Cahill.

Reminders

  • Don't forget to bring a library bag on your borrowing day. It helps protect the books and keeps them clean.
  • K-2 borrow three books per week, Year 3-10 are allowed to borrow up to five books per fortnight. Books can be renewed if there are no reservations on them.
  • Students can place reservations on books by completing a slip at the Library circulation desk.
