Reflection

Lord,

Give each of us the courage to fulfil your plan for us.

May we be true to that voice that echoes in our hearts.

May we be willing to set aside ourselves and follow your way.

May we see the day when war and bloodshed cease when a great peace will embrace the whole world.

Then nation shall not threaten nation and humankind will not again know war.

For all who live on earth shall realise we have not come into being to hate or destroy

We have come into being to praise, to labour and to love.

Compassionate God, bless all the leaders of all nations with the power of compassion.

Let love and justice flow like a mighty stream.

Let peace fill the earth as the waters fill the sea.

And let us say: Amen

Mission Captains 2021 - AIC Ministry Captains’ Forum

On Wednesday 11 November after our Remembrance Day liturgy, the Mission Captains for 2021 went to Villanova College for a Ministry Captains’ Forum. The gathered AIC school student representatives listened to guest speakers and had opportunities to discuss and generate ideas to bring the Gospel values to all AIC events. It was a productive afternoon and we thank Villanova for this initiative and time. Watch this space for the students’ ideas and enthusiasm.

Each year in the Church’s calendar we commemorate all the faithful departed or All Souls on November 2 and the month of November is given in a special way of remembering and praying for the dead. We are invited to take some extra time to remember and pray for the significant individuals in our life who have left this world.

All Souls day is a chance for us not only to remember those who have died, and to renew our faith in eternal life. It is also a chance to review our life and examine what we are doing with the years given us. Are we using the gift of life to come to know the Lord, to be a positive part of others’ lives and to acquire the spiritual goods that last forever?

November is a good month to reflect about our end not as a gloomy preoccupation with death but because it energizes our appreciation of life. All Souls Day is not a morbid day but a day for a healthy dose of Christian realism by remembering those who have been a part of our life, by renewing our faith in Christ, and by reviewing the direction of our life.

To remember, to renew and to review.

All Souls day is a great spiritual flu shot to help us focus on what counts for good.

Mary, our Good Mother, pray for us.

St. Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.

St. Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

May we always remember to pray for one another.
