Principal's Report

by David Lord

I often refer to our whole community as the Staughton Family. I do this because strong communities like ours understand that it takes a village to raise a child. It takes collaborative care and connection. During this time parents and carers have really lived these values. We are very grateful for your resilient support. Your active collaboration with our teachers has been outstanding.

We are excited about having all our students come back to school. We will focus on where they are at in the learning and their wellbeing. To do this we want to continue to build upon our partnership with you. A good way to do this is through the upcoming Parent Teacher Student conferences.

World Teachers Day

World Teachers day is slightly delayed in Australia so that it does not occur in the holidays. It is celebrated on this Friday 30th October. Teachers (with support from parents and carers) have ensured education continues across the country this year, despite major challenges. It’s reinforced the significant role teacher’s play in the lives of children and students, their families and communities. We have fantastic teachers and education support staff at Staughton. This year their efforts have been herculean. On behalf of our community I would like to say how grateful we are for their care effort and expertise.

Child Safe

In response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, all schools are required to implement minimum Child Safety Standards. At Staughton College, we hold the care, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. We have fully implemented all of the standards, including a Child Safe Policy, and Code of Conduct. Both of these documents can be found on our website. I will be regularly reminding our school community of these policies as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
