Book Week

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

Congratulations to our wonderful CPS students for joining in our Book Week dress-up and activities with enthusiasm and good humour! It was an amazing day! Although we could not have our usual whole-school parade, year levels were able to share their costumes and celebrate their favourite authors, illustrators and book characters.

All year levels also enjoyed special craft activities based on this year’s CBCA winners. Preps, Year 1s and Year 2s made stand-up cats and dogs as we shared the beautiful tale of “My Friend Fred”. Year 3 to 6 students used weaving and knotting skills to create their own friendship dolls after reading “Tilly” by Jane Godwin.

Preps to Year 2s loved their “virtual author visits”. On Monday, they met with Lee Fox and on Friday they had lots of fun learning to illustrate and tell a story with Gabriel Evans. Year 3 and 4 students were thrilled with their times meeting Ailsa Wild on Monday and Lili Wilkinson on Friday. The Year 5s and 6s met with Michael Pryor on Monday and Tristan Bancks on Friday. Students found both authors incredibly inspiring and entertaining!

No Book Week day would be complete without our hunt for the Golden Tickets! Congratulations to DeeDee PC, Vivan PC, Emma PB, Piper PE, Annabel PC, Ritesh 1D, Sophie 1C, Alex 2A, Pei Ting 2A, Amelia 3C, Raph 3D, George 4D, Adele 4A, Carlos 5A, Erik 5C, Lucas 6A and Ryan 6C.

Special thanks to our fabulous Literacy Captain, Rosa M and to her team of helpers for their work in setting up for the day. Rosa led our special assembly with great poise and cared beautifully for our younger students as they presented their birthday books.
