BRILLIANT BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

It was wonderful seeing all the creative book character, author and illustrator costumes during our Book Week celebrations last Monday.  With the restrictions in place, we weren’t able to have our usual parade but we did enjoy a fun filled day with a virtual assembly and author visits, craft activities and many stories were shared. Loads of lovely literacy activities you’ll agree ☺

A very big three cheers to Ms Cate Allan for leading these celebrations. Like all special events many hours of planning are required to ensure everything to run smoothly on the day.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES

Just letting families know that Wednesday, 27th January and Thursday, 28th January 2021 are pupil free days with year 1 to 6 students commencing their 2021 school year on Friday, 29th January with our new preps joining us on Monday, 1st February. Please pop these dates into your diary.

BIKES AND SCOOTERS

With our return to school and the lovely spring days many students are choosing to ride their bikes and scooters to school which is terrific to see. I do remind all families and children to take care when riding and respect the road rules at all times. We have been contacted by a small number of local residents who have commented on some not so respectful behaviour. Students need to be mindful at all times of pedestrians, especially during high traffic times and to speak kindly to each other and those around them.

Please remember that students are required to wear helmets when riding their bikes and scooters to and from school.

LOVELY NEWS TO SHARE

We are happy to announce that Sarah Lockett and her husband, Andrew are expecting their second child early next year. I know Millie will love being a big sister. We wish them all the best!

I am sure you will join me in congratulating them on this lovely news.

STAFFING UPDATE

Dominique Oosterbaan and Joel Pollard are both needing to take leave until the end of the year. Mrs Tyahnne Cogan will be replacing Joel and Mrs Natalie Jones replacing Mrs Oosterbaan. Both Tyahnne and Natalie are well known to our students and staff.

LANDSCAPING WORKS UPDATE

As you will see from the photo below the landscaping project is certainly taking shape. It has been exciting to watch the progress each day as this space is transformed into a far more engaging space for our students. These works are progressing a little quicker than first expected and if all goes to plan our students will be able to use this area again before the end of the year. This picture was taken yesterday ☺

We certainly have a school to be very proud of here at CPS.
