Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers

END OF YEAR EVENTS

On Monday, children received information regarding our school’s annual end of year events. COVID-19 restrictions have certainly impacted us all in one way or another and this is the same for the end of year events. When planning these events, I have ensured we will be able to continue to provide a COVID-safe environment for events where parents/ carers can attend. Unfortunately, there are only a few events that parents/ carers can attend but as we did in Term 2, our K-2, 3-6 and Sports Assemblies will be recorded for families to view at a later time. If you are invited to attend one of the COVID-safe events, you must adhere to the guidelines for each event. Further information will be sent home closer to each event.

PARACHUTING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MR PITT

3/4 MEXICO and 4 BRAZIL:

Mrs Karam and I took turns in visiting 3/4M and 4B during their latest STEAM adventures of 2020. All of Stage 2 have attended lessons over the last few weeks where the children have been learning to use Sphero BOLT robots. Students were able to follow and create various algorithms in order for their Sphero to work. It was amazing to see children working collaboratively and using their creative minds to learn more about the robot. Check out some of the photos in this edition of the newsletter.

2021 ORGANISATION

We are currently organising class structures for 2021. If you are returning to Fairvale PS in 2021 you do not need to do anything, however, if you are planning on leaving OR returning a little late then we need you to complete the note at the front office. If you would like to speak to someone about this, please contact/ email the office.

KINDER TRANSITION

Last week we commenced our modified Kinder Transition Program for 2020. Miss Brady informed me that it was a successful session and that our teachers were just as excited as our new 2021 Kindergarten students. A second session is to be held tomorrow. A sincere thank you to parents/ carers for your support during these changes to our usual program. Another huge thank you to Miss Brady and her team for coordinating such an event.

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY (SDD) 2021 ORGANISATION

School development days are used by schools to improve the skills of our teachers, school leaders and school administrative support staff. They improve the learning outcomes of students by:

  • providing targeted professional learning activities aligned to school strategic directions and Department of Education priorities
  • enabling whole school planning and enhancing teacher quality, school leadership and management practices
  • implementing legislative and policy requirements.

From 2021, school development days will occur on the first 2 days of Term 1, the first day of Term 2 and Term 3 and the last day of the school year. Further information will be communicated to you at the end of the year.

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

All adults on site will be healthy and ready to work and we expect the same for our children and their families. If they are unwell at school you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. Check out the link below.
