Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends,

Well we are certainly rushing towards the end of the year. We are making plans around what Year 6 Graduation, the Christmas Concert, Year 6 Celebration Day and Awards Ceremony will look like this year. We are waiting to see if anything changes after the Premier speaks on Sunday. We will advise arrangements once we have had a chance to contemplate whatever the new situation is after Sunday.

With the end of the year approaching there will be changes in our staffing for 2021. Miss Lizzy Holst, after beginning her career at St Anne's in 2015, is moving to Northern NSW and teaching at Mount St Patrick PS in Murwillumbah. Lizzy has taught Year 3, Year 3/4 and also Year 5/6 for the past 4 years as well as being our Digital Technologies Leader over the past 2 years. Mrs Dana Cadzow, with her husband Gabe, are returning to Canberra where they are both from. Dana has completed her first two years as a teacher at St Anne's having taught a Year 1/ 2 class for that period. Though we will miss the two staff greatly we wish them all the best with their futures.

Last week we completed our interview processes to fill these positions. We were absolutely thrilled with the calibre of the applicants. We have appointed Miss Heather Eagling who will teach in one of the 5/6 classes and Miss Kaleigh McKenzie who will teach in one of the 3/4 classes. We warmly welcome both of these new staff.

The building project is flying along. The windows are now in and the plastering is continuing. The roof will all be on by the end of today and by next Friday the painters will be in. As I have mentioned previously, despite some unavoidable delays, all involved are seeking to have handover completed by the end of the term. I smile each time I walk in there imagining the start of the 2021 school year and the joy and pride I hope we will all share.

Thanks to our Year 6 leaders for their recent initiative in providing such fun 'Flow Time"' activities to support our students in re-discovering what a safe and fun place our school is! These have now concluded for the year and I bet the Year 5 students are already planning what they might lead next year.

On Thursday we had our first Foundation Orientation session which was a great joy and we are already excited about seeing everyone again next Wednesday. Next Tuesday our incoming Foundation students also have the opportunity to have a Teddy Bear's Picnic in the Park. This will allow our incoming families to heave an opportunity to meet with each other too. Thank you to Mrs Winduss and Miss Holmes for organising this.

Thank you to Mrs Lacey for a wonderful House Sports Day today. Though we missed our usual crowd our students seemed to have a wonderful time enjoying themselves outdoors.

Next week on Monday our Year 5 students will be trained in organising game activities for their peers during play times in Year 6. Thank you to Mrs Winduss for sourcing this opportunity. Tuesday is our long awaited Photo Day. Please have your child looking at their best for the day ;-).

Recently we completed our Lapathon. Reflecting on 'why' we did that helps us to better understand the Gospel. Over the last few weeks, the gospel texts have dealt with issues of being prepared, staying ready, and using our gifts well. In some ways, all these themes culminate in this week’s text. This gospel presents us with the bottom line! Are we judged worthy of a place in the kingdom? The criteria for being judged worthy are very clear—it is how we have served those most in need. This is what will count. There's a challenge for us all- the need to focus on being of service to others in a world that is so focused on looking after number 1!

School Attendance and Unexplained Absence

Please ensure you contact the school before 9:30am if your child is going to be absent or late by leaving a message on 9786 4736 and press #1.

If you are running late (after 9:00 am ) please attend the office to sign your child into school.

As per our policy this will be our morning routine for absences:

Parents will be contacted as soon as practicable on the morning a student is absent via a phone call or text message.

If parent does not reply or is unreachable the emergency contacts will be contacted by the school.

If there is still no response, and the school feels that the child is in danger, the police will be contacted.

Ongoing unexplained absences or lack of cooperation regarding student attendance will result in a formal conference being organized. Unresolved attendance issues will be referred to D.H.H.S.

This is a legal requirement.
