Parry Beach Excursion
Yr12 Equine students celebrated their end of year Equine studies with an excursion to Parry Beach. To celebrate the work and effort they have put into their Equine studies, students had the opportunity to take horses to Parry's Beach. Students and horses alike enjoyed the outing, riding on the sand and through the water. We even managed to get sunshine on both days!
Given some of the students had had very little riding experience before coming to WACOA-Denmark it was great to see them confidently cantering on the beach and having fun. This looks like it may be a must do excursion for future Yr12's! Thank you to Andy Forbes for transporting and assisting in supervising the rides.
Narrogin Equine Inter-College Event
Late in Term 3 on Friday 18th September, Equine students Jemma Smith, Asher Trom-Wright, Kasey James, Annika Stone, Ebony West, Chontelle Bock and Mya Atkinson competed at the Narrogin Equine Intercollege event. The event is open to students currently attending one of West Australian Agricultural Colleges; and this year students from Narrogin, Harvey and Denmark competed. It was a great day with students riding and handling horses in a range of events including; show-jumping, dressage, games and in-hand presentation. Prior to the event students were busy washing and plaiting their horses plus cleaning, which paid off with well-presented horse and rider combinations on the day.
We had a small group this year, with a range of more experienced competition riders and horses, to some green horses and riders. Everyone helped and supported each other showing good team spirit and sportsmanship. The support from parents was also greatly appreciated and certainly helped with the smooth running of the day.
Some of the results from the day included;
In-hand presentation:
1st place Asher Trom-Wright, 2nd place Kasey James
Show-jumping:
75cm 1st place Annika Stone, 3rd place Ebony West
50cm 2nd place Mya Atkinson
Dressage:
2nd place Kasey James
Overall individual (out of 27 riders):
6th place Mya Atkinson
7th place Jemma Smith
Overall pairs:
2nd place Annika Stone and Mya Atkinson
Thank you to Jenny Scahill and the parents who assisted transporting the horses to the event as well as during the day, and congratulations to the students.
