Middle Years

From the Head of Middle Years

It is hard to believe that it is the end of the school year. It has been good to meet students who are starting at College in 2020 and it is important to make them feel welcome in our learning community.

Accomplishment: As the Christmas season approaches we naturally reflect on the year.  I hope you feel a sense of accomplishment. I would like to congratulate students on their achievements, both large and small.  The achievements extend from the academic, the sporting arena, creative arts, music and to the camps programme.

Respectful Relationships: Our success is due to many factors, including fostering respectful relationships. Friendships change, new friendships emerge and friendships become stronger.

Collaboration: We achieve so much when we work together as a team and this is one of the greatest strengths of our College. I would like to thanks parents for your support and for the guidance that you have provided for your children. There has been a tremendous amount of personal growth which has taken place during the year. Learning requires hard work and effort, and there are no shortcuts.

Wellbeing: From a wellbeing perspective, here are ways to nurture yourself and others this holiday season. Those who prioritise positivity in their lives have higher levels of wellbeing, yet when we get busy it is often these things that get lost.

Celebrate: Look back and recognise your achievements. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Take Time for Yourself: Do things you enjoy.

Gratitude: Expressing gratitude increases positive emotions and build your emotional reserves. By reminding ourselves to stop and take notice of things for which we’re grateful, we experience positive emotions and create positive habits so we will notice these things more often.

Special thanks: Throughout the year, I have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with myPEC families and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer. We are looking forward to welcoming new Year 7 and Year 8 students into myPEC, and I am excited about starting Term One on Wednesday 29th January 2020.

Merry Christmas
