Senior Years and Wellbeing

Pastoral Care

IF ONLY

My beautiful grandmother who would have turned 94 this year gave me this reading.  We are unsure of the name of the author but we do know the lady who wrote this was 85 years old! It is my favourite piece I have included in the newsletter and thought it fitting that it is the final one of the year.

Wishing all our wonderful College families a very blessed Christmas and I hope you enjoy some precious time with family and friends.

Keep safe and looking forward to a busy and exciting 2020.

If I had my life over again I would make more mistakes.

I would relax – I would limber up.

I would be sillier than I have been on this trip- very few things

I would take seriously.

I would worry less about what others thought of me and

would stop pretending and accept myself as I am.

I would climb more mountains and watch more sunsets.

I would learn more and know less.

I would eat more ice-cream and fewer beans.

I would watch less T.V and have more picnics.

I would have only actual troubles and very few imagined ones.

I would feel sad, but not depressed.

I would be concerned but not anxious.

I would be annoyed but not angry.

I would regret my mistakes and spend less time worrying about them.

I would count my friends more and my money less.

I would tell more people that I liked them.

I would forgive others for being human and I would hold no grudges.

I would play with more children and listen to more old people.

I would go after what I wanted without believing the world

would end if I didn’t.

You see I’ve been one of those people who lived sensibly, safely, sanely hour after hour day after day. I’ve been one of those people who never went anywhere without a raincoat, water bottle or a
