The Class of 2019

In my last editorial for 2019, we are pleased to share the Class of 2019 results. Every College student passed their VCE. Nihindu Ranasinghe achieved our top score of 99.65 and also scored a perfect 50/50 Study Score in Mathematical Methods.  Tarini Mitra who scored 98.55 was our Proxima Accessit. Fifteen students (22%) scored above 90, further improving the percentage from last year of College students in the top ten percent of the state.  Leading students included Vice Captains Kate Millear 94.65 and Reagan Simons 93.3 and School Captain James Sutherland 91.9.  Hamilton locals Liam Bowman 93.05 and Marcus Munro 92.75 also scored well.  Meanwhile our boarders fared equally strongly: Nanjing international student Jerry Wu 94.05, Alannah Sander 93.25, Lachlan Armstrong 92.9 and Hannah Russell 92.15. Our mean ATAR score of 76.1 and the fact that 90% of students scored above 60 enabled a plethora of tertiary options.  We are proud of every child’s results and our depth revolves around a commitment to ‘educate with purpose’; that is high academic accomplishment with connectedness in life.  We congratulate all students on their VCE success.   I acknowledge the very fine work of all our teachers, most especially departing staff: Rob Drummond, Anli Zuo, Ralph Carolan and Richard Thatcher. They are all highly respected colleagues and we thank them for their contributions.

Finally, I thank the student body, staff, parents and Old Collegians for your continued support and encouragement this past year. I wish all families a peaceful and blessed Christmas and look forward to your company in the New Year.

May love be in your life, may hope be in your hearts and may peace be in our world!
