PDHPE/Sport Report
Term 1 Sport 2019 – Year 7, 8 and 9
Students who are currently in Year 7, 8 and 9 received their information notes about Tuesday sport for 2019 this week. The information note outlined the procedures for selecting sport online using the School Bytes Program. Below is the timeline for sports selection:
- Week 7 – (Monday 26 November) – Sports selection information notes distributed to all students
- Week 8 – (Monday 3 December to Friday 14 December) – Sports Selections open online for all students via School Bytes
- Week 9 – (Friday 14 December) – Last day for payment and permission note
- Week 10 – (Friday 17 December) – Sports lists finalised for Term 1 Sport 2019
If students are unsure about the procedures for Sport selections for Term 1 2019 please come and see Mr Wright in the PDHPE staffroom.
World Mental Health Day
330 Year 10 students at Henry Kendall High School viewed the livestream of the Largest Mental Health Awareness Lesson on Friday 9th November. The event provided such a unique opportunity to promote positive mental health and stimulate conversations amongst the students about looking after themselves and each other. The lesson provided students with a chance to learn about ways to build their mental fitness in order to manage the challenges they encounter in their lives.
Brisbane Water Zone Gala Day – Friday 30 November
Coming up in Week 7 is the Brisbane Water Zone Gala Day – 40 students who have made a positive impact in PDHPE this year have been selected to participate in the Zone Gala Day at Adcock Park. Students will play in a range of sports throughout the day – Students are reminded to bring their permission notes back to the PDHPE staffroom.
Sportsperson of the Week
Sportsperson of the week has continued throughout this term with the following students receiving their certificate and prizes throughout the term. Congratulations to the following students:

for their outstanding participation and enthusiasm at Tuesday afternoon sport.
PDHPE – Term 4
Throughout Term 4 in PDHPE students have been learning about various health issues that affect young people in today’s society. These include:
- Year 7 – Swimming Survival and Learning to Swim Program at Gosford Pool
- Year 8 – Summer Safety
- Year 9 – Think before you Click (Cyber Smart)
- Year 10 – Risk Taking Behaviours/Discrimination and Diversity
Stage 6 Courses
Our new Year 12’s have started the HSC course and they have been introduced to the following units of study:
- HSC PDHPE – Sports Medicine
- HSC CAFS – Independent Research Task
- HSC SLR – Outdoor Recreation
We wish all the new Year 12’s all the very best with their first assessment task as they start their journey through the HSC course.
