Instrumental Music - Saxophone

Our VCE Saxophone Quartet – including students Harvey Carroll, Louie Marshall and Zac Joan (Year 11) and Gabriel Taburet (Year 12) performed as special guests in An Hour with the Tudor Choristers and Friends at Brunswick North West Primary School in September.

The concert featured Celtic music so the Irish Suite performed by the quartet was perfectly suited. A full house clapped along with the final tune Irish Washerwoman. The boys, along with the primary school’s choir, combined with the Tudor Choristers in the finale Cockles and Mussels. Three of the four boys in the quartet were former students of the primary school which is one of BSC’s “feeder” schools and the concert was aimed at raiseing funds toward a new PA system for the primary school.

The Tudor Choristers, established in 1962, is one of Australia’s longest running vocal ensembles. In 2017, BSC’s Greek Band appeared as a guest artist for Tudor Choristers in a performance in Carlton.

Brunswick North West Primary included the following review in their news:

This afternoon our community was honoured to welcome The Tudor Choristers and VCE Saxophone Quartet from Brunswick Secondary College for a Sunday soirée to raise funds for a PA system in our multipurpose room. [We also enjoyed] a special appearance from the BNW choir performing items from the Mission Songs Project sung with The Boite Schools Chorus earlier in 2018.

This photo was taken during the final number which saw all three groups perform Cockles & Mussels  and the audience had fun singing along.

Our facilities are shared with the community, and were honoured that this afternoon those visitors were generous with their time and talents to raise funds for BNW. A huge thank you to The Tudor Choristers and BSC VCE Saxophone Quartet!
