COVID-19 Updates

Updated 21 March 2022

The latest Department of Education information for parents is available by clicking here.

Updates from Ben Venue PS will be posted on School Stream.

Eased restrictions

Visitors may enter school sites but must continue to use the QR check-in and follow normal sign-in processes at the office.

Students should still not attend school if displaying symptoms, or otherwise unwell, unless school attendance is supported by a doctor's certificate.

Isolation requirements were recently updated:

  • A household contact needs to self-isolate for 7 days commencing from when the diagnosed person took the test, rather than 7 days from last contact with the diagnosed person.
  • A household contact is not obligated to self-isolate as a contact more than once in a 21-day period (if the person is diagnosed with COVID-19 themselves, they will need to self-isolate again). This means that the maximum isolation period as a household contact only is 7 days, even when additional household members test positive during your isolation.
  • A person who has had COVID-19 and later becomes a close contact or household contact does not need to self-isolate as a contact if it has been less than 8 weeks since the person finished their self-isolation period (up from 28 days in the previous Health Order).

A message from NSW Health

Millions of children around the world have already safely received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The vaccines help protect us against serious illness and possible long-term effects from COVID-19, and also helps protect friends, family and the community by reducing the spread of the virus.

Vaccinating children can help keep kids in school by reducing the likelihood of school closures and disruptions to school activities.

Booster vaccinations are also available and recommended for anyone 16 years and older who received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 3 months prior. For further details refer to NSW Health's Booster vaccination page.
