Early Stage 1 Information

Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 newsletters will be released fortnightly in this section of the newsletter. 

 

Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) Newsletter 

Thank you to all parents who were able to attend the Parent-Teacher Interviews. Educating children is definitely a team effort and we thank you in advance for your ongoing support. 

 

School photos are this week. If you have not already returned your child’s photo envelope, please do so as soon as possible. 

English

We are learning to:

  • hear and say the sounds /t/, /a/ and /p/
  • write the letters ‘t’ and ‘a’ using the correct formation
  • sequence a story by identifying what happens at the beginning, the middle and at the end of the story
  • compose a sentence and check our sentence ends with a full stop. 

Mathematics

We are learning to:

  • organise objects into simple data displays and interpret the displays
  • record numerals 0-10 and 10-20
  • count collections of objects and identify numbers 0-20.

Integrated Learning

We are learning to:

  • identify how materials can be combined for particular purposes 
  • identify when materials have been combined to produce objects that we use in our lives
  • ask clarifying questions in our learning

Personal Development and Health (PDH)

We are learning to:

  • understand what confidence looks like, feels like and sounds like in different situations
  • understand what it means to be persistent and how being persistent helps us to be successful. 

Helping Your Child at Home 

  • Play board games…it’s okay for your child to lose.
  • Have discussions about what materials objects are made of.
  • Writing their name using correct spelling and formation. 

Reminders

  • If the way your child is going home changes, please phone the school and advise.
  • If your child arrives after the 9:10am bell, please take them to the office to sign in.  

We've had lots of fun experiences across all the Kindergarten classes!
